Lowestoft
Lowestoft is Britain's most easterly town. Being the second biggest town in Suffolk , it has a population of over 60,000 people. Lowestoft has grown from a small fishing town into a developed region, boasting industrial and tourist districts throughout Lowestoft and the surrounding area.
Lots of regeneration has been put into the town, including the new 30 million pound relief road and the 14 million pound Sunrise Scheme. All off this makes Lowestoft an attractive, prosperous place to live. We have many events and attractions throughout the year, the most famous being the large free Air Festival that takes place every summer. The Air Show attracts around 400,000 people and runs for 2 days with performances from the Red Arrows and other spectacular displays.
The beach at Lowestoft is superb, boasting 2 piers and clean sands and waters. The beach has the prestigious Blue Flag award, attracting tourists from around the world to stay and enjoy the area.
Great Yarmouth
Great Yarmouth is situated 9 miles above Lowestoft and is home to around 92,000 people if you include the surrounding towns that make up the borough of Great Yarmouth.
The town has a large shipping port, bringing wealth to the area by the sea, but is more famous as a tourist attraction. The long seafront is full of rides, amusements, bars and entertainment. The 2 piers, Wellington and Britannia both bring different attractions to Great Yarmouth. Wellington Pier has been re-developed as an entertainment complex, whilst the Britannia is home to a Funfair and Theatre.
There is a horse race course and a stadium that is home to Greyhound and Stock Car racing. There is a rich history, with monuments and museums. And for those who like the night life, Great Yarmouth had many night spots open until the early hours most evenings.
